ZAGREB, BERLIN, 08. FEB. 2016 – Croatian Foreign Minister Miro Kovac stated in Berlin that Zagreb wanted good relations with its neighbors and supported their integration in the EU. “We want good relations with all of our neighbors and for those who are not yet EU members, we wish a good prospect of joining the European family. Croatia will actively back Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU membership application,” said Kovac, after a meeting with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the Croatian HINA news agency reported. Kovac stressed that this was “a process that will take a long time,” but that the prospect was what mattered. “We will support enlargement, but we will call for the fulfillment of criteria. We will be strict but fair, and that is in the interest not only of Croatia, but of Germany and the entire EU, too,” said Croatian FM.He reiterated that where the migrant crisis was concerned, Croatia was cooperating excellently with Austria, Slovenia, Serbia and Macedonia. He commended Germany for the way it was handling the migrant crisis, but concluded that “the day will come when the number of refugees will have to be reduced.”
