ZAGREB, 14. SEP. 2015 – Croatia doesn’t expect the refugee wave to wash over the country, but it’s ready to accept around 3,000 refugees, the head of the Croatian interior ministry’s border administration, Zlatko Sokolar, said. “We are not going to close the door on those people, or refuse to help them. It’s important to note though that they are actually aiming for other European states,” Sokolar said in Sombor, at a round table debate on the refugee crisis. The Croatian government official said that 6,000 policemen were deployed along the border, but than only a few attempts have been reported at crossing it illegally from Serbia, and across the border “in the south.” Sokolar confirmed that two days ago eight Syrians entered Croatia, and that they were placed in the Porin Hotel, in Zagreb, explaining that Kutina had the largest accommodation space to offer to refugees, but that the Office for State Property was ready to make some of the facilities it owned available to the refugees.
